The Herndon High School Band is proud to represent the United States at the 75th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France in June 2019. The Pride will be honoring the WWII servicemen and women, our veterans, active duty military and their families.

As they march, the Pride will also be paying a special tribute to the brave men of the USS Herndon, the destroyer that led the Allied naval armada in the assault on France. The marching banner will have a photograph of the ship and each student will carry a photograph of one of the veterans as they march in France. Here's a Mock-up of the Honor Tags they will carry!!!

Rubin Sztajer, a holocaust survivor who spoke to us last December (2018). He passed away on March 26, 2019. Rubin was an extraordinary man whose personal mission was to speak to as many kids as possible not just about the Holocaust but more importantly about perseverance and hope. His talk to us was the last one he gave. More about him and his talk here.

WW II veteran Sergeant John Swart Jr who took part in Operation Overlord on June 6, 1944 spoke to us in August 2018. Check out his speech in Videos and Talks on D-Day, USS Herndon and World War II.
