The IT Chair provides strategic leadership for the technology that supports the Herndon High School Band Parents Association. This role ensures that the organization’s technology infrastructure is secure, reliable, and aligned with the needs of the board, volunteers, students, and families. The IT Chair oversees technology planning, manages the organization’s technology resources, and leads a team responsible for supporting day-to-day operations and major events.
Responsibilities include:
Develops and recommend the organization’s technology strategy to improve operational efficiency, security, and long-term sustainability
Oversees the administration and security of the HHSBPA’s Google Workspace environment, including user accounts, shared resources, organizational settings, and Google for Nonprofits compliance
Manages the organization’s technology assets, including hardware, software, cloud services, and subscriptions
Ensures technology systems, equipment, and services are available, secure, and properly configured to support meetings, performances, competitions, fundraising events, and other activities
Leads and supports the Technology team, including the Webmaster and IT Support volunteers, by establishing priorities, providing guidance, and coordinating technology initiatives, and removing impedements
Partners with the Communications team to improve the effectiveness, reliability, and accessibility of the organization’s digital platforms
Evaluates emerging technologies and recommends solutions that improve collaboration, increase capabilities, reduce risk, or optimize costs
Develops and maintains technology documentation, operational procedures, and best practices to ensure continuity between board members and volunteers
Advises and educates the Board of Directors on technology related opportunities, risks, and best practices to support informed decision-making
Provides technical leadership and problem solving for technology related issues affecting the organization’s operations
