Marching State Assessment (VBODA)

Join us for the VBODA Marching Band Assessment on October 19, 2024, starting at 10 AM at Monticello High School in Charlottesville, VA. This event showcases the best in marching band performance, where bands from across Virginia will be evaluated on their musicality, precision, and visual presentation.

VBODA Marching Assessment - Saturday, October 19

Monticello High School in Albemarle, VA

7:45am Report in show shirt, black socks, and marching shoes

9:45am Depart in charter buses – bring movies, snacks and pillows for the bus. Eat a GOOD meal as close as you can before we arrive!

12:00pm Arrive at Monticello HS, Unload equipment and change into uniform – there will be no privacy! 

2:00pm Perform

2:15pm Change and load trucks

2:45pm Visit concessions; watch Dale, Rock City, Robinson, Jefferson Forest

3:45pm Load buses

4:00pm Depart Monticello. Contact families for accurate arrival home.

6:30pm Approximate return to Herndon HS

6:45pm Approximate Dismissal together after unloading all equipment

• Bring lunch food for the bus and concessions money or food for dinner

• Any medication needed at the competition should be checked in with First Aid when we report on Saturday.  Students should hold onto their own inhalers and epi-pens.

• No jewelry –including necklaces! No fingernail or polish, even if you wear gloves. No make-up unless you are in color guard.

• Bring fully charged cell phones.  These must be left in the uniform racks or buses while performing.  Cell phones ARE NOT allowed when in uniform.

• Bring DVD’s to watch on the bus. Only G and PG movies are allowed. All movies are shown at the discretion of the band staff.

• Adult tickets are $10, students and seniors (55+) are $5, children under 6 are free. Please come watch and support us!
