2018 Judith Lapple Summer Music Festival & Woodwind Camp

Goal: Our goal for advanced students is to facilitate growth in the areas of musicianship and professionalism.  Students will focus on merging their technical skills with their expressive goals to further develop their inner artist.  Additionally, students will focus on the Art of Performing as a means of communicating these expressive goals in various performance opportunities, such as Student/Faculty Afternoon Recitals, Master Classes, Workshops and performing advanced literature for the instrument and large ensemble.  Additional focus is placed on improving sight-reading (in preparation for District Band, youth orchestra and college auditions) as well as skills of playing with others (listening, blending, intonation, communication through tone, movement, and inflection). This level is extremely fast-paced, intensive, and technically demanding.  Our faculty for the advanced students are comprised of college professors, symphony musicians, local area teachers and educators who insist on excellence through constant motivation and support of our students.  Many of these students go on to pursue music throughout high school and into college.

Classes offered: Large ensemble playing, instrumental choirs, studio classes and specialized workshops on the following topics: "Sight-reading"; "Preparing for College/Orchestral Auditions";  "District Band Audition Tips"; "Performance Etiquette"; "Instrument Repair"; "Taking Better Auditions"; "Solo Repertoire Master Class"; "Orchestral Excerpts."
