The Herndon High School Symphonic Band is exceptional by any measure. The Symphonic ensemble maintains a full schedule of performances and competitions throughout the year. Generally competing one level below the Wind Ensemble, they consistently receive Superior and Excellent Ratings, and Best of Class awards.

In March of 2006, the Symphonic Band earned the top ratings at New York's prestigious Heritage Festival competing against top bands from around the nation.
