The 14th Virginia Showcase of Bands is coming up soon. This event cannot occur without the tremendous support from the Pride of Herndon students, parent and alumni and various Herndon community service organizations. Below are some links that will help you learn about this event:

What is the Virginia Showcase of Bands? It is a marching band competition hosted each year by our Band Parents Association. Once again, we are teaming with the United States Scholastic Bands Association (USSBA) and will be hosting their Northern Virginia Regional competition. Each band competes with other bands of similar size in different categories. Judges rate and score each band, and the top bands are recognized with trophies at the awards ceremonies. We will have two award ceremonies this year: the first around 4:30pm and the second before 10:00pm.
Our Pride of Herndon Marching Band will march in exhibition.
This is a major fund raiser for the Herndon High School Band Parents Association. Over 400 volunteer positions have been identified and need to be filled to ensure that this year's edition follows the successful traditions of those that preceded it. There are volunteer positions available for adults, high school students and middle school students. We also have positions for people with limited mobility. We will need many hands the day of the event to do various activities such as working in the concession stand, parking control, hospitality, and band guides to name a few. Please contact Volunteer@HerndonBand.org for specific information or to reserve your slots.
Some tips for our volunteers:
- Adults should wear their HHSBPA polo shirts (red or black) or red shirts
- HHS students should wear their "show" shirts
- HMS students who volunteer should wear their band shirts from last year if they have one (otherwise red shirts will work)
- Name tags will be provided the day of the event
- Students will be provided with a ticket to the concession stand for use after they have completed their shift
- Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your shift. Specific check-in instructions will be sent via email the week of Showcase.
- Wear comfortable shoes, bring a big smile and enjoy the day
