2007-2008 Indoor Drumline

What an opportunity for our students! After many years of not having a drum line, we are now offering this great activity through the Pride of Herndon. We have a group of 19 students that want to sharpen their musical skills and advance their music education by participating in the Winter season Drumline. We are very fortunate to have the very talented Paul Fadoul leading the instruction for this group, and he will be assisted by Amanda Brock and Mike Robson. These three have made room in their busy schedules and have been working with our students since November.

The Indoor Drumline is off to a great start thanks to an anonymous donor who has enabled us to purchase a new floor and cart this year.

This winter, Herndon started an indoor drumline (the first since 1996-1997 and then a partial attempt in 1998-1999).  PJ is back at the reins, with Mike and Amanda helping him out as Techs.  This year's show is entitled Deja Vu, which is an arrangement (done by PJ) of the Eric Whitaker piece, Equus, featuring challenging drill and dance, also designed by PJ.

The kids started off in Novice class.  After the first competition, the team was immediately bumped into class A.  The kids, excited and nervous about the bump and the new lines they would face, have been doing a great job, and have proven themselves to be quite competitive.  Last weekend, Herndon took first place in class A at the AIA show at Edison.  This weekend, the team will perform in the semifinals on Saturday, and hopefully in the finals on Sunday.
